You know what they say, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. If you’re looking for a way to celebrate with your friends and family, consider throwing a holiday party that everyone will be sure to remember.
Step 1: Atmosphere
The holidays wouldn’t be the same without tons of decorations everywhere. Something about the flashing lights, inflatable ornaments, and ringing silver bells just let us know the holidays are here once again.
When hosting a party, you don’t have to go overboard with the decorations. Be sure to include the classics, such as a Christmas tree, mistletoe, snowmen, tinsel, and reindeer. It’s also important to have holiday music selected, because, after all, it’s not a party until people start dancing. If you can’t create a playlist on your own, consider using a DJ to really get the party going.
Step 2: Food And Beverages
While Christmas is known for peppermint and gingerbread, Hanukkah is known for latkes. No matter which holiday you’re celebrating, great food is always a must. As a general rule, you should always have more food than you think you need. I know I would much rather have leftovers than run out just as the party is starting.There should also be some variety in the food depending on your guests. Remember to think functional. Finger food can easily be catered around the room without making a mess.
Also be sure to include some holiday drinks with the food. Hot chocolate, eggnog, or even warm apple cider will help to fill the room with the scents of the season.
Step 3: Activities
Once your guests are done admiring your decorations and eating your food, they’ll need to have something fun to do. Thankfully, there’s no shortage of holiday activities that can be played. I’m personally a fan of the game White Elephant. Guests can bring their own gifts, which will then be swapped among each other.
Other fun activities include Christmas karaoke, Secret Santa gift exchange, or having a gingerbread house decorating contest.
