If you’re looking for a unique, interactive and exciting surprise party theme that all of your guests will love, then a casino party is your perfect option! From craps and poker to slot machines and blackjack, there will be plenty of fun for your guests to enjoy. So, if you’re ready to plan the perfect birthday celebration, here’s how to give it a little casino flare.
Your invitation should be a sneak peek for all of the casino fun that’s headed their way. An invitation really sets the tone for a party, so you’ll need to make sure that it’s just right. For example, try something like “you’ve been ‘dealt’ an invitation to XXX’s surprise party.” Then add some poker chips to the envelope before sealing!
The decor is key when it comes to capturing the casino mood. Make sure there’s plenty of glitz, glam, and flashing lights to go along with the casino party theme. Of course, you’ll need plenty of balloons to make it a true party, like the super cool dice balloons shown here. Add directional signs throughout the “casino floor,” and make sure to point out where the “VIP” tables are so your high roller friends can bet their fun money big.
What’s a party, or even a casino, without some music? Make a playlist of all of your favorite gaming-related tunes and keep it shuffling all night. Some great songs to include are:
The key to throwing a memorable party is fantastic entertainment! When planning your casino party, be sure to choose games that are appropriate for all skill levels. Your seasoned gamblers might love to sit down for a game of Texas Hold ‘Em, but those that are less experienced might fancy roulette or slot machines instead.
At Casinos by M&M we have casino games to suit each and every one of your guests, and our experienced dealers are trained to provide step-by-step instruction for those willing to challenge themselves and try something new. Since when did so many people get the “bah humbug” spirit when it comes to their company’s holiday party? Sure employees are busy this time of year and everyone has heard the stories of parties running out of food or someone enjoying the open bar a little too much – but the reality is, holiday parties are a great way to boost office moral and mingle with coworkers you normally don’t run into between 9 and 5. If you’re planning a corporate holiday party this year, here are just a few ways to make sure your party is a hit!
Theme: When was the last time you got to dress like you were going to a masquerade ball or Christmas in July party? The point of a holiday party is to break away from the normal work day environment, so get creative. If you’re on the fence about a theme, send out a questionnaire to your employees or ask them to vote on their favorite theme.
Superlatives: Have employees anonymously send in superlatives or “most likely to” awards for each other. Employees might be praised throughout the year for their work accomplishments, but this is the chance to get a little more creative. Don’t be afraid to have fun with it and hand out the “most likely to oversleep,” “best hair,” and “office clown” awards.
Food & Drinks: Everyone’s diet is different, so try to make sure you get plenty of diverse food that will accommodate people who are gluten free, vegetarian, lactose intolerant, etc. And when it comes to the bar, no matter how you chose to celebrate, just make sure everyone knows what to expect so they can plan accordingly. Make sure employees know if it will be a cash bar, if it’s just beer and wine or if it is fully open.
Games: After greetings have ended and everyone has found their seat and settled in, there can be a bit of a lull (because let’s face it – no one wants to be the first one on the dance floor). Keep guests entertained from the moment they walk in with games or raffles.
Give a Gift: Say your final thank you for a year well done with a personalized gift from the company. Whether it’s something practical, like an external battery or something a little more relaxed like personalized wine glasses, employees are sure to love the gesture.
“The way you treat your employees is the way they will treat your customers.” — Richard Branson
Your employees work hard all year, so take this night to really show them how much you appreciate their contributions to the company.

‘Tis the season for office holiday parties, and with December around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start planning yours! End of the year holiday events help boost company morale, bring employees together, and allow everyone let loose after a long year of hard work and have some fun. That being said, here are some tips and tricks to help you create an office holiday party your employees and clients will never forget.
You have many options when it comes to choosing a theme – masquerade, casino night, or “ugly sweater parties,” to name a few. Try to incorporate the theme throughout the night as much as possible – from the decorations to the games. You can even ask people to dress up – employees love a chance to drop their business attire and let their creative side show!
Instead of telling the employees about the party through word of mouth, send out an invitation. Whether it be an e-invite or a personalized letter in the mail – people love to be invited, personally!
Want to make everyone happy? Make sure to provide them with a variety of the best food and drinks all night long. Large amount of vegan/vegetarians? Have a table for the meat-free entrees. Half of the company hates seafood? Sliders are a sure shot way to make everyone happy.
Go one step beyond your iPhone photos and hire a professional. Update your blog and website with pictures from the night. Clients enjoy seeing the real people behind the employees and the company. This also allows everyone to enjoy their night without worrying if their blurry phone photos will make the cut for the company blog. Bonus Tip: Create a hashtag for the party so everyone, including present and future clients, can look back on your fun night with ease.
No matter the size of the company, a holiday party is the perfect time to recognize employees and their achievements. Think outside of the box – keep some of the awards serious but also fun! Some options include, “Best Dressed,” “Most likely to…” or “It’s 5 o’Clock Somewhere.” This can bring the employees together in a more casual and personal way.

Fact #3: The popular phrase “jackpot,” originated as a form of poker. In this variation, the pot continued to grow until a player could open the bidding with a pair of jacks or better.

Fact #5: Money raised from gambling and lotteries has been used to fund many public building projects, including construction of The Great Wall of China.

Fact #7: It’s true that Las Vegas is the gambling capital of the U.S., but Macau is the gambling capital of the world, with bets bringing in $45.2 billion in revenue in 2016.

Everyone walks into a casino thinking “today is the day my luck will change,” but unfortunately for most, it rarely does. But what if luck had nothing to do with your winning or losing? Here are six people who — either through great intelligence, practice or just plain cheating — knew they would be leaving a winner.
As the first person to exploit the wheel bias in roulette, Garcia-Pelayo was able to beat the odds. Wheel bias is the belief that every roulette wheel favors some numbers over others, because of minute differences in the internal gears and leveling. Using what he learned from studying hundreds of wheels, he bet on that wheels’ “hot numbers,” giving him a 15% edge over the house. For a decade he studied and hit every casino from Spain to America, earning a total of $1.5 million in winnings.
After decades of research and development, Taft created a wearable computer that helped him count cards. After just one week, Taft won $40,000. His other famous inventions include a belt buckle video camera, used to see the dealer’s hole card and a computer that could tell the positioning of cards in a perfectly shuffled deck.
Ida Summers’ good looks, small frame and social graces allowed her to pull off the most daring cons ever attempted at a casino. Summers was a pro at swapping out the dealer’s deck with her own pre stacked ones, known as a cool deck. After thousands of dollars won and even more people conned, her luck ultimately ran out when the FBI arrested her.
Also known as the man who could beat any slot machine, Carmichael made his fortune by hacking nearly every machine across Las Vegas. Carmichael created a “light wand” that he was able to insert into a machine, cut off the light sensor and drop the coins. Ironically, Carmichael now works with slot machine manufacturers to help make foolproof machines.
Unlike others who tricked the game in order to make money, Colavecchio went straight to the source. Throughout the 90’s, he created almost exact replicas of slot machine coins. He was not caught until casino managers realized there were thousands more coins in stock than were ever ordered by the casino itself. Like Carmichael, he too now works with law enforcement to prevent and catch counterfeiters.
Known as the father of card counting, Thorp not only used the method, he also created it. By essentially keeping track of what value cards were where on the table, Thorp and his friend, Claude Shannon, left the casino with roughly $70,000 every time. Because no one had ever heard of card counting, Thorp was never actually caught, but he was kicked out of every casino he entered because he was suspected of cheating.

Think you know everything about your favorite casino game? Think again! There are plenty of blackjack myths that have been around for centuries, and we’re here to take a look at some of the most popular.
Myth: Having newbies at the table hinders your odds of winning big.
It’s this myth that keeps novice players from trying their luck at a casino table! Many people will blame other players for their loss if those players don’t play a deal how they feel it should have been played. The truth is, it doesn’t matter how other individuals play the game. Mathematically speaking, the cards of another have no effect on the cards that you hold or how you play them.
Myth: You should always avoid sitting in the last seat at a table.
This superstition says the last seat gets dealt the worst hand, but more importantly, holds the most responsibility. Similar to the novice myth, other players are more likely to get angry with the last seat player. “If he had only stayed and not hit, the dealer would have busted!” Unfortunately, this logic is flawed. As we said, mathematically speaking everyone has the same odds.
Myth: The cards have a plan — with the order that they appear in that is.
Many believe that once a game has started, players cannot join or leaves. They feel that it disrupts the “sacred order” of the cards and brings bad luck to other players. Like in the two myths above, we have to remember that blackjack is all about chance and equal opportunity. Sure, switching up the players will change the order of the cards, but that doesn’t change the odds!
In the game of blackjack you can’t blame others for their losses! At the end of the day, everyone has a fair shot and a fair crack at strategy. The only way to increase your odds is with practice — which is why we suggest booking a blackjack table for your next party or event from Casinos by M&M.
