Halloween is right around the corner, and Long Islanders as celebrating in a big way — with plenty of family fun entertainment island-wide! If you’re looking to get out and experience a few pre-Halloween treats this weekend, here are some of the most exciting events ahead.
Saturday, October 22
Rundead 5k Zombie Run & Fall Festival: Located in the heart of Massapequa, this annual trail run is sure to be a scream! Either sign up as a runner, dodging zombies as you go, or as a zombie, stumbling, chasing and stealing flags off the runners’ belts. Or perhaps you’d like to stand on the sideline and enjoy the Fall Family festival afterward. No matter what you choose, you’ll be supporting the Long Island Special Olympics by participating!
Saturday, October 22 & Sunday, October 23
Hempstead House of Horrors 2016: Brave the halls of the Hempstead House mansion, a building that once housed orphans in the 1940s. Experience the spooky, scary on-goings that have been reported in the haunted house for yourself — just make sure you’re over the age of 18 or accompanied by a parent. This is a spooky one, so leave children under 14 at home.
Adventureland’s Pumpkin Park 2016: Dress up and enjoy two full days of fun, safe trick-or-treating at Long Island’s favorite amusement park! Entry is free, but if you’d like to get in on the park ride action as well, tickets will be sold separately at regular price.
Fink’s Country Farm Fall Festival 2016: The perfect fall festival for the little ones in your life! Enjoy two days of family fun and Halloween entertainment. There’ll be hayrides, a 5-acre corn maze, U-pick pumpkins, kiddy train rides, inflatable slides and much more!
Sunday, October 23
Spooky Scavenger Hunt: Head on down to Heckscher State Park for a Halloween-themed scavenger hunt, produced by the Regional Environmental Education Team. The hunt stars at 1:30 p.m. and includes an educational nature walk. There is an entry fee of $3 per child, and reservations are required in advance.
