The most important decision is whether to hit or stand. The objective of this card game is to hit a number of 21 or below, but also beat the dealer’s cards.
One of the other names for blackjack is 21, since going over this number will mean losing no matter what the dealer’s cards show.
Playing blackjack, the cards go by the associated number with the exception of face cards which have a value of 10. Aces can be worth either 1 or 11 giving the player some room to reach 21.
The card game begins with two cards dealt, which means a player can use an ace in combination with the other card and reach 21 without taking any more cards. If the card is a low number they can take more cards if they have an ace without fear since it can be counted as one.
Taking a hit at blackjack means getting another card from the dealer to try and improve the hand and should not be used to get closer to 21 unless the hand is worth a low number. The player risks getting a face card, a 7, 8 or 9 that could put them over the top number. Instead, the better strategy is if the hand is near 18 to stand.
